Youth Football Program

Pop Warner youth football seeks to develop well-rounded young adults who learn not only the fundamentals of football, but also the importance of education, in an atmosphere conducive to developing sound mind, body and character and having a good time along the way!

Pop Warner Safety

Kids compete with kids of similar age and size. Pop Warner is the ONLY youth football program (local, regional and national) that sets and enforces a strict AGE & WEIGHT MATRIX that reduces the risk and reality of injuries. Pop Warner's age-weight schematic protects younger lighter players, who do not have higher injury rates.

Did you know that Pop Warner football is safer than soccer? Pop Warner football has 12% fewer injuries per capita among 5-15 year olds than organized soccer in the same age range! (U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, NEISS). In Pop Warner Football, there is "an absence of catastrophic head and neck injuries and disruptive joint injuries found at higher levels."

Youth Sports Safety Statistics

  • The injury rate in Pop Warner Football is: less than one-third the injury rate as found in high school football; less than one-fifth the injury rate in college football; less than one-ninth the injury rate in professional football.
  • Organized football among 5 - 15 year-olds has 50 percent fewer injuries per capita than bicycle riding in the same age range.
  • Organized football among 5 - 15 year-olds has 74% fewer injuries per capita than skateboarding in the same age group.
  • Injuries in youth football are normally mild, and older players have a higher injury rate than younger players.

Youth Football Benefits

Each year, Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc. host the Pop Warner Super Bowl and National Cheer and Dance Championships. For the past ten year, the event has taken place at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex - in Lake Buena Vista, FL during the second week of December.

The Pop Warner Football Championships (referred to as the Pop Warner Super Bowl) are divided into teams competing in Division I and Division II. 64 football teams compete for National Championships in 4 different age/weight ranges (Jr. Pee Wee, Pee Wee, Jr. Midget & Midget).

In order to advance to the Pop Warner Super Bowl, a team must win its respective League Championship as well as the Regional Championship. Each advancing team is guarenteed to play two games at the Super Bowl, with a Tomlin and Warner Champion being crowned in each age-weight division and competition level.
